Thanks to up-cycling and repurposing trending right now a quick Pinterest search will unearth hundreds of ways to repurpose old doors. I love exploring people’s creative thinking, there are some clever people out there and a few of my favourite repurposed projects are shown above. Fortunately old doors are generally in abundance at recycle or recovery yards and you can usually pick them up quite cheaply.

This morning I was browsing black and gold décor on Pinterest. For the right space, I love this look. It’s luxurious, glamorous and elegant whilst also being bold and striking. I think this look is all about achieving the perfect balance. It’s important to remember that a little bit of gold goes a long way. Too much bling and it becomes cheap and tacky.

With black and gold on my mind I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I saw this gold platter plate for $1.00 as I walked past my local thrift store this morning. I was excited about it being the right shade of gold. It’s hard to get its true colour in the photo but it’s more of a dull gold as opposed to the tacky yellow looking gold. Continue reading
The more thrift stores and tip sites I visit it is confirmed to me that there are an abundance of lonely, forgotten chairs just waiting for a new lease of life out there. I could simply keep myself busy revamping chairs alone.I came across this one abandoned on the streets of New York on holiday earlier this year! If only I could have fit it in my suitcase.
Each time I see a chair I find myself thinking about it’s story, it’s possibilities and it’s ideal use; perhaps in a nursery, hallway, bedroom corner or home office.
